Veterinary clinics are vitally important to the successful education of our students.

Work experience with clinics allows our students to master essential practical skills.  It helps cement the information they’ve learnt during their course. And it creates better, more competent veterinary nurses.

Agreeing to host a student allows your clinic to give something back to the community. And you just might find a ready trained employee knowledgeable in the ways of your clinic.

This section is designed to help you understand your role in hosting a Cert II or III in Animal Studies student on work experience, or supporting your own student veterinary nurses to further their qualifications.

ACVN Registered Training Practices

The Australian College of Veterinary Nursing maintains a working list of clinics interested in hosting our students on a regular basis.

You can choose a student based on your needs, whether you’re interested in hosting a Cert II/III student or offering further experience to Cert IV students from smaller clinics who don’t have the necessary equipment or caseloads available for our students to complete their studies.

Give something back to the veterinary community and you might just a prospective employee who is a perfect fit for your business.

You can also use our students to back up your regular staff during your busiest times and improve your workflow.

Of course, there are conditions and restrictions on what students can and can't do, and when they should be utilised. We also offer significant continuing education benefits for your nursing and support staff in return for supporting our students.
